Biography

Known primarily for performing Irish and Scottish folk, native Pittsburgher Mike Gallagher has been a constant musical presence throughout the tri-state area. Mike also specializes in contemporary acoustic music and performs a number of original selections, backing his clear tenor voice with sensitivity and versatility on the 12-string guitar.Mike comes from a musical background. His father was a professional singer on Pittsburgh radio during the depression.Mike started playing guitar at age 11. His seven brothers and sisters are also gifted musicians.

Aside from being a mainstay at many local clubs, he has also performed at the Three Rivers Arts Festival, the Pittsburgh Irish Festival and various area colleges and universities. He has sung on radio stations such as KDKA-AM, WYEP-FM and on Diane Byrnes’ Echoes of Erin show on WEDO-AM.He has toured extensively throughout the easternUnited States and parts of Europe.

His original works draw on the influences ofAmerican roots music and Celtic traditions. Master of the Irish ballad as well as haunting lovesongs, Mike has established himself as an entertainer who brings emotion, humor and spiritto every performance.

Mike’s discography includes Allegheny…Home,Tomorrow is a Road, St. Patrick’s Day, Dancin’ on the Earth, and the Michael Gallagher Collection.His latest release Saints & Scholars, is a masterfulcollection of original, contemporary and traditionalIrish tunes, which Mike co-produced with Al Snyder of Corbin-Hanner.
